The foundation has a variety of programs that provide opportunities for leadership development and academic achievement; thereby enabling youth to positively impact their family, school and community.

Darrell Reid is a natural born leader on and off the field. He feels that he was both privileged and blessed to have made it to the NFL. “I see it as a blessing and it is my responsibility and a duty of mine to reach back and help others because there were so many who reached back and helped me.”  Darrell has spoken to thousands of youth across the country about the importance of not giving up, both in life and on themselves.  Reid says, “Adversity is a part of life and we will all face it, probably many times, that is out of our control; how we respond to it is what we control.”

Darrell  is a native of New Jersey!!  He was born in Freehold NJ and attended Freehold Boro HS. He was raised in a single parent home, with his grandfather playing the father figure in his life. After losing every game his junior year in HS, Reid led Freehold to a division championship his senior year.  In his senior year he was named captain and despite breaking his hand in the first game and missing 3 games, he earned him All-State First-Team honors at middle linebacker.

After HS Darrell went on to play college football at the University of Minnesota, where he was a four-year starter. He arrived at Minnesota as a linebacker but after redshirting he was switched to defensive tackle in 2001. That year he started as the smallest Defensive tackle in the Big Ten weighing only 235 pounds. Still, he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. He led the team in sacks and tackles for loss both his junior year and senior.  The latter of which he was named All- Big Ten Second Team. It was not all athletics for Reid as he also acquired a degree in Communications and Rhetoric with a minor in Leadership.

Despite his success in college Reid was not drafted and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2005. He became one of the best and most feared coverage men on special teams (See Youtube).  Reid also helped contribute to the Colts historic Super Bowl run of 2006 earning a Super Bowl ring.
